Suehiro Maruo is a Japanese artist and Mangaka known for his darkly beautiful and unsettling imagery.
Maruo was born in 1956 in Nagasaki. He became a leading figure of the ero guro nansensu movement with his blending eroticism, grotesque violence, and surrealism.
Maruo’s drawings are meticulously detailed, portraying both beauty and decay with equal reverence.
He explores themes of obsession, transformation, and the fragile line between pleasure and pain.
Through this tension, Maruo reveals the strange poetry hidden within the grotesque.
He also made coverartworks for Japanese Rock, Punk and Metal bands such as Necronomidoll, Balzac and Merry.
