Julius Jenny was born in Germany and grew up in Switzerland. From an early age, he was fascinated by the strange and eccentric. He was influenced by writers such as H.P. Lovecraft and artists such as H.R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński, and Hieronymus Bosch, whose works had a lasting influence on his creative vision.
His artistic approach combines the ancient, the dark, and the surreal. He combines the techniques of the old masters with imaginative explorations of the unknown. His paintings, mainly in oil, feature an amorphous, speculative anatomy that invites constant reinterpretation and challenges the viewer’s aesthetic sensibilities. By juxtaposing technical realism with disturbing motifs, he confronts the underlying aesthetic codes of contemporary Western society.
